Polishing (All Metals)
Mechanical surface restoration removing oxidation, tarnish, and micro-defects, finished with protective sealant coats.
Process Overview
Polishing is extensively used to enhance the appearance of an item, remove contamination, eliminate surface oxidation (tarnish), create a reflective mirror surface, and prevent corrosion in industrial piping and structural components.
The removal of oxidization from metal objects is accomplished using precision polishing compounds and equipment. To prevent further unwanted oxidization, polished metal surfaces are coated with protective wax, oil, or lacquer. This treatment is of particular importance for sensitive copper-based alloys such as brass and bronze.
Applications & Suitable Objects
- Automotive bumpers, grilles & classic restoration trim
- Marine stainless steel & bronze hardware
- Architectural handrails, stanchions & decorative column covers
- Industrial sanitary piping & pharmaceutical vessels
